Modern French brasserie Purlieu opened last night in the Westside neighborhood of Charleston. The second restaurant from Cru Cafe chef John Zucker draws inspirations from his time in Paris, where he graduated number one in his class at Le Cordon Bleu. Executive chef Jeff Williams heads the kitchen and beverage director Jacob Fuhr is in charge of the beer and wine selections.
The menu is full of French selects like rabbit rillette, frog leg tarte, bouillabaisse, and more. There’s also a burger topped with pickled lunch box peppers that Williams and Zucker have spent the past few months perfecting.
Zucker says that he wants the restaurant to be an affordable establishment where neighbors can dine multiple times a week. Purlieu opens Tuesday (click here for full article)
